Are Male Fertility Rates Rapidly Dropping?

Male fertility has been decreasing since the 1950′s.

Iva Keene examines the reasons for this drop in male fertility and solutions to reverse the trend

The WHO (World Health Organization) needed to reluctantly lessen the amount for normal sperm cell counts in most men measured as a reason for being unable to conceive today.

This gloomy predicament of reduced male fertility rates could partially be ascribed to reproductive system toxins found in individual care items and cosmetic products.

Experts have been studying the unwanted effects of phthalates such as DEHP and DBP more than 20 years. They determined that these kinds of toxic compounds are highly effective reproductive and developmental toxicants. Which might promote a long list of childbirth issues and also infertility. This applies especially to male fertility.

Environmental Working Group’s Jane Houlihan reported that “FDA has taken no action to reduce the use of phthalates in cosmetics, drugs, and food packaging, despite mounting evidence showing that a lot of people are exposed to potentially dangerous levels of phthalates.”

Analysts are linking the foregoing male fertility situations to reproductive system toxins evident in daily products:

Dr Swan belonging to the University of Missouri cautions the average sperm cell quantity in developed countries are regressing at a level of one percent annually! (Swan et al 2000)

US Centers for Disease Control announced a growth of cases of Hypospadias ever since approximately the early 70′s. This is a body disability where the urethra opening happens on the bottom of the penis instead of around the top. (Paulozzi 1999)

The US CDC furthermore revealed a rise in un-descended testicles ever since the 1970s. Testicles need to infiltrate to the scrotum during being pregnant. In this instance they don’t. Men delivered with this defect are at a greater risk of growing testicular and likewise cancer of the breast. (Paulozzi 1999)

Cancer of the testicles (which obviously affects male fertility) is another condition which has been rising inside the industrial countries since the eighties and that researchers are regarding contact with phthalates. (Toppari et al 1996 and Moline 2000)

The Noxious Group of 3 Affecting Male Fertility

Scientists singled out three phthalates in particular which were discovered to be strong of their ability to damage Male fertility along with harm male reproductive system. They are:

DBP – dibutyl phthalate
BBzP – butylbenzyl phthalate
DEHP – diethylhexyl phthalate

One of the most worrisome areas may be the not enough labeling. None of the popular fifty two phthalate filled with products tested in the research laboratory detailed the individual phthalates on their own substance record.
